Tell us a bit about your company and your role
I am director of Brentnalls WA – we are Chartered Accountant business which focuses on helping: business clients grow a sustainable profitable business; the owners achieve their goals; and protect the owner’s interests.
What do you feel sets your business apart from competitors?
We have a methodology of:
1. First understanding the client’s needs and objectives
2. Implementing processes to improve the financial management of the business and understand the profit improvement model
3. Using the Mindshop tools we help the client to determine their strategic focus and
4. Helping the client focus on the execution of the strategy through our quarterly business review meeting
What is the number one reason you are a part of the Mindshop community?
The Mindshop tools are simple to use both with our clients and team and help us work through solutions in a much less prescriptive and I think more honorable way, which we were not previously able to do when we belonged to other communities.
How have you been adjusting your approach to delivering strategy in recent times and why?
We have moved our focus to execution of the strategy, in addition to helping our clients develop their strategic focus – this is what will help us get results for our clients in long term.
What is the number one piece of technology that is helping your business succeed and why?
The whiteboard and the camera on my mobile phone! It is great for brainstorming, Mind Mapping and Force-Field Analysis.
What do you see are the key trends advisors need to be focused on in the next 5 years?
Change is a constant – we need to keep surveying the internal and external environment to fine tune the strategy and check our assumptions; also need to focus on the execution of the strategy, although not particularly exciting it is absolutely essential to long term success.
